Over 20 years coaching surfers, from their first wave to international competition.

I started in 2000 as an instructor at the Figueira da Foz Surf School, where for 14 years I taught groups from all over the world. Then came competition: I coordinated the surf section of the Associação Bodyboard Foz Mondego, coached at the Academia Profissional de Surf and led the Clube Recreativo e Cultural da Quinta dos Lombos competition team, with athletes in regional, national and international contests.

National titles from under-12 to under-18, including the men's and women's Pro Junior national titles. I've coached athletes such as Francisco Ordonhas, Martim Nunes, Gabriela Diniz, Tiago Stock (winner of Capítulo Perfeito), Salvador Vala and Érica Máximo, among others.

In 2024 I founded Uncle Fernandez Surf Coach, and in 2025 I joined the coaching staff of the Portuguese Junior National Team at the ISA World Junior Championship in Peru.

Today I'm based in Cascais and coach from Costa da Caparica to Ericeira. Level II coach certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation.
